Kidz Haven @ PCF Boon Lay is launched!

Opening of Kidz Haven

28th February 2010 marks a new milestone for PAP Community Foundation (PCF) Boon Lay Education Centre. With a sound of the gong by DPM Teo Chee Hean, PCF Boon Lay is rebranded and now stands proud as Kidz Haven @ PCF Boon Lay.

The first experiential kindergarten amongst her counterparts, Kidz Haven engages in contemporary teaching styles to enhance the child’s learning abilities and widen the possibilities of “classroom” learning.

This project has support from both PCF HQ and MOE, and its programmes are jointly partnered with specialists from NIE in the field of pre-school education, Ms Esther Joosa and Professor Susan Wright. Classrooms are converted into specialized learning rooms where the child can observe and learn hands-on on various areas. The child’s learning is no longer bound by topical teaching, but instead, under the guidance of the teachers, the child is encouraged to take part in self-exploration and self-discovery.

Besides an equipped dance room and gym where the child can take part in music and physical activities at the same time learning about movement and coordination, Kidz Haven also has facilities like a Road Safety Park, where the child learns through role-play of the various facets of safety on the road.

Those aside, where the Drama Room encourages the child’s self confidence, the Little Chef’s Kitchen has functional stove tops and sinks built to the child’s height where under the tutelage of the teacher, the child can cook real meals, learn about its origin, and at the same time, pick up information about health and nutrition.

These are but a portion coverage of Kidz Haven @ PCF Boon Lay’s 9 specialized classroom that focuses on the child’s learning journey through experience.
